Walks and Rides
Times and Information Guides for all walks are available from the
Port Fairy Tourist Information Centre, Bank Street, Port Fairy.
Historic Walks:
Escape into a world of yesteryear as you walk through the streets of Port Fairy and see its wealth of Victorian history unfolding in the simple facades of whalers cottages, imposing churches, inns and Government Houses.
Maritime Walk:
See life as a merchant on the wharf, or a volunteer at the historic lifeboat station or as a volunteer for the militia. Learn of the many shipwrecks of cargo and passenger boats from Melbourne on the Maritime & Shipwreck Heritage walk.
Art Walk:
Its not just the history of Port Fairy that makes it rich but the continued uniqueness of its people today. See artists at work in their studios, dine while experiencing great art and great food. Visit the treasure trove of art galleries. Art walk guide available at the office.
Bike Track:
Hire a bike from Port Fairy Visitor Information Centre or Daktari Surf Shop and take a leisurely ride on the bike tracks that surround Port Fairy township taking in the historical cottages, spectacular birdlife, surfing and rolling seascapes. The Port Fairy - Warrnambool Bike track is a 30km bike track starting at Lake Pertobe in Warrnambool through the farmlands of Koroit, connecting with Tower Hill and finishing at Port Fairy. The new bike track is now completed!
Horse Rides:
Rundells have specially bred horses to cater to the nervous first time rider as well as the experienced riders. Qualified instructors will give riding instruction before leaving on their exciting trails to ensure that all experience the thrill of riding along a wide open beach. The trail will take you through Kellie's swamp full of swans and other bird life into the tall sand dunes and onto the beach. Take a friend or a group of friends, beach trail rides available every morning or afternoon. Twilight rides during daylight saving hours and riding lessons and led ponies also available.
